William T. Kirk (1815-1900) was a pioneer settler of Franklin Township. In 1837, the town of Kirkland was named after William and his family.
He and his wife, Louisa, raised 9 children in Kirkland. He owned over 1500 acres and gave the right of way through the town for the Milwaukee Railroad.
The Kirkland Historical Society is always looking for memorabilia from Kirkland Illinois’ history. Please consider donating artifacts for our future generations!
