William Kirk: Founder of Kirkland

william-kirkWilliam T. Kirk (1815-1900) was a pioneer settler of Franklin Township. In 1837, the town of Kirkland was named after William and his family.

He and his wife, Louisa, raised 9 children in Kirkland. He owned over 1500 acres and gave the right of way through the town for the Milwaukee Railroad.
